Yunus Yobas is using the opportunities provided through the Tamar Engineering Project to strengthen his academic performance, build professional confidence and explore future career pathways within the engineering sector.
Alongside his studies, Yunus has balanced the financial demands of university life with part-time employment. Receiving a Tamar Engineering Project award has helped reduce those pressures, allowing him to dedicate more time to his degree and future ambitions.
“My award has supported me in many ways” says Yunus. “I have been able to work fewer hours in my part-time job to help pay my tuition fees, which means I have more time available for my studies. This will have a positive impact on my grades.”
A key benefit of the scholarship has been access to an industry mentoring. Through the Tamar Engineering Project, Yunus was matched with Thomas Tiley, a Mechanical Engineer at Babcock, and is currently participating in the Babcock Mentoring Programme.
